Arise, Shine

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,

and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

See, darkness covers the earth

and thick darkness is over the peoples

but the Lord rises upon you.

Nations will come to your light, and

kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

Isaiah 60:1-3

With Easter just behind us and the brightness of spring all around us, let us consider our own hearts and the light within. The risen Christ is our Light, our Glory, our Brightness.

Do you feel dim today? Do you feel under the ‘thick darkness that covers the earth, that is over the people?’

Today He says,

“Wake up, O sleeper,

rise from the dead,

and Christ will shine on you.”

Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:14-16)

The days are “evil” – they are short, they are slipping away. But today, Arise, Shine, for your Light has come. Wake up, Sleeper, and Christ will shine on you.

  3. Hi, Sky City gals! Praise God for this creative outlet and amazing space to unite in one Spirit. Katherine…thanks for being obedient and sharing your heart with us. You ROCK sista! Reflections on Easter and Waking Up to His light…..God gave me such a beautiful gift at the Mt P Good Friday service. My dad doesn’t walk with the Lord and I’ve been praying for him and asking God to change his heart. Friday night as the choir sang, I noticed this one man singing in the choir who looked EXACTLY like my dad. I’ve been at Mt P for several years and I’ve never noticed this guy before. He was so happy signing to the Lord. He looked so much like my dad, I couldn’t look at him very long without getting freaked out. I kept having to look away. But as I looked at the other men in the choir…a certain part of each one of them began to look like dad too. It’s very hard to explain, but every man in the choir looked to me just like my dad. I prayed and asked God to tell me what this meant. He told me it was a confirmation…like a promise that my dad would accept salvation through Christ. Even now as I remember it to write you, I can hardly remain compsed to type. Isn’t God’s love for us so beautiful? I can hardly fathom that on a holy day when I celebrated God’s sacrifice to me, He continued to give to me…He was thinking of me. It was HIS day and He was thinking of me! On Good Friday, I definitely woke up to His light..and have the promise that soon my Dad will too. Much love girls, ~Alli
