“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples
but the Lord rises upon you.
Nations will come to your light, and
kings to the brightness of your dawn.”
With Easter just behind us and the brightness of spring all around us, let us consider our own hearts and the light within. The risen Christ is our Light, our Glory, our Brightness.
Do you feel dim today? Do you feel under the ‘thick darkness that covers the earth, that is over the people?’
Today He says,
“Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:14-16)
The days are “evil” – they are short, they are slipping away. But today, Arise, Shine, for your Light has come. Wake up, Sleeper, and Christ will shine on you.
